Estonia will be hosting a special competition in February which is being dubbed Europe’s first ‘Cyberolympics’.

The event, which will see students compete in a number of areas, is designed to encourage young people to engage with computer systems and cyber security and is being organised in part by the Estonian Ministry of Defence.

During the competition students from the Estonian Information Technology College will be given a number of mock scenarios designed to test their abilities in the cyber world. Scenarios are believed to range from security breaches to general system administration.

Organisers of the event claimed that they were excited to see young people competing in areas not normally seen as competitive. Representatives from the school as claimed that they wanted the event to go international in the coming years, with students from different countries joining to compete.
